We help companies recover revenue faster, stay fully compliant, and protect customer relationships through our AI-powered collections platform. Our clients span industries like home services, lending, medical, legal, and more. The technology replaces outdated processes with modern, compliant automation at a fraction of the cost of traditional collection agencies or teams. We are growing fast, backed by venture capital, and building the next generation of first-party collections technology. We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer who thrives in a startup environment and wants to play a foundational role in shaping our core product. You’ll be applying modern machine learning techniques to real world problems, building systems that directly impact how businesses manage accounts receivable at scale. This role requires autonomy, problem solving, and the ability to collaborate closely with both the engineering and product teams. This is not an entry level role.

    Interval AI is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to design, build, and optimize the models that power our AI driven collections platform. This role will be central to advancing our product’s intelligence from decision making models that drive compliant outreach to predictive analytics that help businesses recover revenue faster. The ideal candidate is hands on, comfortable experimenting with real world data, and eager to take ownership of high impact features in a fast paced startup environment.     Position title: ML Engineer

    Position overview:
    At Interval AI, machine learning is at the heart of our product. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will have the opportunity to define how AI is applied within our platform and create systems that directly impact customer outcomes. This role goes beyond model development. You will work across the entire lifecycle of applied machine learning, from data collection and preprocessing to experimentation, deployment, and monitoring in production. You’ll collaborate closely with our engineering team & CTO to ensure that models are not only accurate but also scalable, reliable, and compliant. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast paced startup environment, can independently drive projects forward, and is excited by the challenge of solving complex problems with real world data.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design, train, and deploy machine learning models that power Interval’s AI collections platform
    • Build predictive models for customer payment behavior, risk scoring, and outreach decision making
    • Use collected data to model and improve outreach cadences and decisioning
    • Develop compliant automation systems that adapt to industry regulations
    • Work in sync with our Head of Collections and CTO
    • Collect, clean, and preprocess structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
    • Monitor model performance, health, and implement systems for continuous improvement
    • Experiment with new algorithms and approaches to improve accuracy and efficiency
    • Collaborate with product and sales teams to align models with customer needs and use cases
    • Document processes, models, and systems for internal visibility and compliance requirements

    Qualifications:

    • 4+ years of experience in applied machine learning or data science
    • Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation
    • Ability to deploy models into production and integrate with engineering systems
    • Familiarity with databases, data pipelines, and APIs for ingesting large datasets
    • Must be available to work in person at the Interval office
    • Proficiency in Python and common ML libraries
    • Experience using Linear

    Preferred:

    • Solid grasp of statistics, probability, and optimization methods
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously in a fast paced environment
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non technical stakeholders
    • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as FDCPA, TCPA, or Reg F and how they influence AI systems
    • Prior experience at a high growth startup or building zero to one ML systems
